Aim and Scope
The Journal of Education, Technology, Higher Education and Skills Development (JETHES) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal committed to advancing interdisciplinary research, critical scholarship, and innovative practice within the fields of education, educational technology, higher education, vocational education, skills development, lifelong learning, and workforce transformation.
JETHES aims to provide a dynamic academic platform for researchers, academics, policymakers, practitioners, postgraduate students, and institutional leaders to engage in scholarly dialogue that addresses contemporary educational challenges and emerging developments within local, regional, African, and global contexts.
The journal particularly encourages research that responds to the evolving demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), digital transformation, artificial intelligence in education, sustainable development, social justice, inclusive education, and future-focused skills development.
JETHES publishes high-quality original research articles, review articles, theoretical papers, conceptual papers, case studies, policy analyses, and book reviews that contribute to knowledge generation and educational transformation.

The objectives of JETHES are to:
- Promote rigorous and innovative scholarly research in education, technology, higher education, and skills development.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration among scholars, practitioners, institutions, and policymakers.
- Advance evidence-based educational practices and policy development that contribute to educational transformation and sustainable development.
- Provide an accessible platform for emerging and established researchers to disseminate high-quality scholarly work.

Editorial Process
All submissions received by JETHES undergo a structured editorial workflow to ensure quality, academic integrity, and scholarly relevance.
Initial Screening
Upon submission, manuscripts are screened by the editorial office to determine:
- Alignment with the journal’s scope and focus
- Compliance with submission guidelines
- Academic writing quality
- Ethical compliance
- Similarity/plagiarism screening results
Manuscripts that fail to meet the journal requirements may be returned to authors for correction or declined before peer review.
Peer Review Assignment
Suitable manuscripts are assigned to subject specialists and undergo a double-blind peer review process.
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief may issue one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor revisions required
- Major revisions required
- Resubmit for review
- Decline submission
Copyediting and Production
Accepted manuscripts proceed through:
- Copyediting
- Layout editing
- Proofreading
- Author approval
- Final publication
Authors are informed throughout all stages of the publication process.
Publication Frequency
JETHES publishes articles on a continuous rolling basis within scheduled issues.
The journal currently publishes:
- Two issues per year (Biannual Publication)
Special issues may also be published on emerging themes, conference proceedings, or invited scholarly collections.
Open Access Statement
JETHES is a fully open-access journal. All articles published in the journal are freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication without subscription charges or access fees.
The journal believes that open access promotes:

The journal will investigate all allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, falsification, duplicate publication, unethical research conduct, and authorship disputes.
Peer Review Process
JETHES uses a rigorous double-blind peer review process in which:
- Authors do not know reviewer identities.
- Reviewers do not know author identities.
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
The review process evaluates:
- Originality
- Relevance
- Methodological rigour
- Theoretical contribution
- Academic quality
- Ethical compliance
- Clarity and coherence
The average review process may take between 4–8 weeks depending on reviewer availability and revision requirements.
Editorial decisions are final.
Plagiarism Policy
JETHES maintains a zero-tolerance approach to plagiarism and academic misconduct.
All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to peer review.
The journal considers the following unacceptable:
- Direct plagiarism
- Self-plagiarism
- Duplicate publication
- Data fabrication
- Improper citation
- AI-generated content presented without disclosure
Where plagiarism or unethical conduct is detected, the journal may:
- Reject the manuscript
- Request corrections
- Retract published articles
- Notify authors’ institutions where necessary
Authors are encouraged to ensure proper citation, referencing, and academic integrity before submission.
